... Women look for The One at 25 Women look for The One at 25

6 May 2008

Reports of the death of marriage have been greatly exaggerated, according to new research.

A study conducted for More magazine found that nine out of ten young women plan to tie the knot one day.

And they stop playing the field in search of their Mr Right as early as the age of 25, the study revealed.

Despite hopes of a wedding, around six out of ten of the respondents said they continually get stuck in long-term relationships that lead to break-ups rather than down the aisle.

Some 80 per cent of women are concerned they will never find The One, despite searching everywhere for him.

Meanwhile, a forlorn 76 per cent said they had had their heart broken at least once.

Lisa Smosarski, editor of More magazine, said: "The idea that young women want an endless string of serial relationships which never end in commitment is way off the mark.

"By the age of 25, what young women really want is a soulmate with a view to marriage."
