Titanic stars keeps love alive with husband dates 2 January 2009
Kate Winslet has shared the secret of her successful marriage with director husband Sam Mendes.
Talking to Elle magazine, the Titanic star admitted that relationships have to be worked at to succeed.
She explained that particularly when you have children, it is important for partners to get out "go and be a couple, have a laugh"
.
The star's way of getting that quality time is to arrange dates with her husband and she admitted that the couple aim for two dates a week, although they usually only manage one.
True to her down to earth image, the Bafta award-winning actress said that she doesn't dress up for her dates but goes for "a nice meal somewhere", shares a bottle of wine and talks with her husband.
As a lead in her latest film Revolutionary Road, Kate was busy with filming, but her husband was equally tied up as he was directing the film.
The 33 year-old explained that it was "an insane schedule completely full on", but despite this the pair still managed to enjoy dating.
Kate said that once during filming the couple were so tired they just "drove into this nice little area, sat there for hours talking and then drove home again. It was actually a great date".
The couple married on May 24th, 2003 on the island of Anguilla in the Caribbean.
