More men having cosmetic surgery 18 August 2008
Men are becoming increasingly concerned with their appearance and many are going under the knife in order to attract the ladies.
New research reveals that one of the driving factors behind men getting cosmetic surgery is that they want to be able to compete with their younger and better-looking workplace rivals especially as the credit crunch is causing some to lose their jobs.
A study by cosmetic surgery group Transform reveals that the number of men having surgery to get rid of their eyebags has doubled in the past 12 months
.
Business tycoon Duncan Bannatyne from Dragon's Den revealed this week that he too has had the surgery, the Mirror reports.
Commenting on the figures, surgeon Lorraine Ishak told the newspaper: "More men are realising it's important to project a positive can-do attitude at all times.
"People we see are fed up of being told their baggy eyes make them look tired. And when people see celebrities having the procedure done, it makes it more acceptable."
Other popular procedures for men include liposuction, nose jobs, ear corrections and face lifts.
