A new study has suggested that women have a more fulfilling sex life if their partner is prosperous.

The research carried out by evolutionary biologists Dr Thomas Pollet and Prof Daniel Nettles, of Newcastle University, was aimed at examining the links between wealth and a good sex life.

According to the research, the scientists found that women who slept with wealthier men experienced more orgasms
.

Dr Pollet said in the journal Evolution and Human Behaviour: "We found that increasing partner income had a highly positive effect on women's self-reported frequency of orgasms."

The researchers took their information from the Chinese Health and Family Life Survey, which examines information on the sex lives and income of 5,000 people from China.

There is a possibility that the results could be explained by a bias in the study.

The scientists considered the possibility that women who had frequent orgasms may have a tendency to overestimate their partner’s income.

They also suggested that women who have successful partners may exaggerate their own enjoyment of sex.

Dr Pollet said a third possibility was that "more desirable mates cause women to experience more orgasms".

A recent study by Garnier revealed that 71 per cent of men would pick brunettes as their ideal partner.ADNFCR-1043-ID-18981105-ADNFCR
