Women start worrying about their looks and the signs of ageing in their 20s, according to new research.

A survey of 4,000 women by Olay Regenerist revealed that females in the UK are likely to feel their age is catching up with them at just 28.

By their 20th birthday, women are already concerned about signs of ageing, such as grey hairs, wrinkles and laughter lines
.

Just one in five respondents to the survey said they would not worry about their looks in terms of ageing until their 40s.

However, 14 per cent were obsessed with losing their looks by the age of 25, with more than half stressing about it by the time they get to 30.

Sarah Clarke of Olay Regenerest said women are clearly "seriously worried" about their looks and wanted to stay looking young.

She said: "While 28 might not seem that old, for many women just the fact that the dreaded thirties are approaching can be enough to get them worrying about their skin showing the signs of ageing."
