A new survey has revealed that women are more likely than men to dump their partner by text message.
According to directory service 118118, five per cent of women have let their partner go via text message, compared with just two per cent of men, reports Life Style Extra.
William Ostrom, director of communications at 118118, believes that there was perhaps more to the findings than initially revealed.
"You might think that this is because men are being noble and heroic by doing it in person, but it might just be that they are not taking the trouble to let their partners know that they have been dumped at all," he said.
"But people are using texts to handle difficult situations rather than make a phone call."
The study also found that 89 per cent of all adult women now regularly send text messages, compared with 70 per cent of men.
And while over two thirds of women send five or more texts a day, 32 per cent claim to have sent messages they have later regretted.
