Researchers in America's lone star state ranked the reasons they found in order of how frequently they arose.
Unsurprisingly, they found the reason 'I am attracted to this person' to be the most common.
Other reasons included "To get closer, sentimental and personal with this person" and "Because I love to have sex".
Another respondent gave "It's really good" as justification for making the beast with two backs.
Other reasons included the idea that sex is "good exercise" or simply "good fun".
"I am married," another respondent said.
One of the researchers working on the study said that the findings revealed that men are not solely interested in sex for pleasure nor women in sex purely for love and stability.
