A new study by researchers at the university of Newcastle has proved that women do naturally prefer pink.
The researchers at the University of Newcastle tested close to 200 men and women in their 20's and asked them to choose among colours shown to them on a computer screen
.
It was found that women more often opted for blues with more red mixed in, and moved away from green and yellow.
Blue has been found to be the universal colour of preference in previous tests, but there had not been much research on the difference to colours between men and women.
A different group consisting of Chinese men and women were also tested and again women preferred pink overall, suggesting the preference is universal across the gender.
Researchers speculated that evolution might have driven the female preference for reddish colours as it denotes healthy foods and complexions.
But an argument as to why humans universally prefer blue was harder to come up with, researchers added.
