A German marine centre has resorted to playing romantic music in an effort to get its sharks in the mood. And it seems to be working.
The centre played music to the sharks for two hours a day over a month. By the end of the experiment 50 eggs had been discovered
.
A spokesman said: "We tried everything else and it didn't work, so we took a new approach. It has been tried with pandas and primates and it worked with them, so why not sharks?"
Songs that the sharks got their groove on to included Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake, Salt n Pepper's Push It and Joe Cocker's You Can Leave Your Hat On.
Britney Spears, however, failed to push the right buttons for the sharks, according to the Telegraph.
Jenz Hirzing from the Sea Life Centre, said: "The study gives us and scientists the chance to investigate how much influence music can really have on sharks and their mating behaviour."
