... Romance isn't dead Romance isn't dead

31 July 2007

While the findings of a new survey reveal that romance is still alive and well, it seems that people's definition of romance could use a splash of originality.

The survey by Ynet asked respondents their most romantic settings and gestures for various scenarios
.

As the location for a first date, 61 per cent chose a beach and a bottle of wine, while the least romantic was watching a movie, either at home or at the cinema.

The most romantic place for a kiss, would you believe, was a beach at sunset.

A restaurant over a candle-lit dinner was voted the best place to propose, while in front of the TV came bottom.

Another unsurprising result was Paris ranking as the most popular romantic getaway destination.

A home-cooked meal was thought to be the most romantic gift, with flowers and jewellery coming in next.

And if you are cooking to impress, strawberries and cream is the food most likely to appeal.

But bear in mind, the least romantic trait was said to be thriftiness. Others, meanwhile, said that going Dutch on a date was a turn-off.

Smoking was also near the top of the turn-off list, as was a date living with their parents.ADNFCR-1016-ID-18229927-ADNFCR
