... Queen's guards wed Queen's guards wed

30 July 2007

Two soldiers have become the first married couple to guard the Queen at Buckingham Palace, according to the Sun.

Phan and Stuart Chapman both belong to the 16 Signal Regiment and have been married since January
.

They met in 2004, since when they have served together in Afghanistan.

Speaking of when she met Stuart, Phan, originally from Vietnam, said: "It wasn't exactly love at first sight, but Stuart was a really friendly guy and things grew from there."

The proud groom said: "The Army's not only given me a marvellous career, it's also led to me meeting and marrying Phan."

Mrs Chapman said: "We are both very proud to be doing this [job] and it's great to know that we are making history being the first married couple to do this together."

Of her new position outside the Palace, she said: "I felt more nervous changing the guard than when I was in Afghanistan.

"I didn't want to make a mistake in front of all those people."ADNFCR-1016-ID-18228246-ADNFCR
