... Men think they're funny Men think they're funny

22 August 2007

Those looking for love do not necessarily need to turn on the charm, if new research is to be believed.

Drinks firm Vimto found that the nation's favourite type of humour is sarcasm
.

A regional twang - or brand of humour - might help too since the study revealed Billy Connolly and Peter Kay to be Britain's favourite comedians.

Each scooped 30 per cent of the vote.

Rob Deering, who is performing at the Underbelly's Smirnoff Baby Belly venue, told the Scotsman: "We reserve the right to be miserable, focus on the bad things in life - and deflate all that is good at all times. Sarcasm keeps misery alive while you're having a laugh in the pub."

And men are either funnier, or less humble, than women.

Some 31 per cent of male respondents said they made people around them laugh four times a day or more compared to 18 per cent of women.
