Man to walk '500 miles' to win back his love
11 April 2007
An Italian man is to walk 500 miles to Rome ? and back again ? to win back his ex girlfriend, after being inspired by the Proclaimers' hit song 500 Miles.
Mario Balducci, 58, who broke up with his girlfriend after an argument, said: "When I was I the car I heard the song by the Proclaimers and decided it would be a fantastic way to prove I love her."
He will make the journey from his home in northern Italy, to Rome - which is around 500 miles - and then back again.
"I'll be the man who's walked a thousand miles to be there at her side," he said.
Mr Balducci said that he loved his girlfriend but did not know how to show it. Hopefully this should do the trick.
The intrepid romantic expects his journey to take two months, during which he has arranged to stay with parish priests.
The Proclaimers' 500 Miles recently went to number one after being covered by Matt Lucas and Peter Kay in aid of Comic Relief.
