... Man hospitalised by erection Man hospitalised by erection

7 June 2007

A man got more than he bargained for after he was hospitalised because of an erection which would not subside.

The erection occurred the morning after he had consumed a vitamin-enriched health drink, Boost Plus, produced by Novartis pharmaceutical company, reports AP.

The drink is described by the firm as "a great tasting, high calorie, nutritionally complete oral supplement for people who require extra energy and protein". It comes in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.

The victim, Chris Woods, from New York, underwent surgery to get rid of his erection. This took the form of a Winter shunt, used to move blood from one place to another.

He later required penile artery embolisation, which closes off some blood vessels to prevent the engorgement of the penis by excess blood.

Woods, 29, is filing a lawsuit against the pharmaceutical firm, seeking unspecified damages.

The company has so far failed to comment on the impending lawsuit.ADNFCR-1016-ID-18172932-ADNFCR
