The Global Sexual Wellbeing survey, sponsored by Durex, spoke to people from 26 countries to determine which continents are the friskiest.
Most people around the world were found to have sex 106 times a year. The Greeks topped the list, having sex 164 times, while the Japanese indulge just 48 times annually.
The Japanese also rated their sexual satisfaction the lowest, with ten per cent of those surveyed describing their love lives as OK. Nigerians, however, are generally satisfied, with 78 per cent reportedly pleased with their sex lives.
Asian countries were found in general to have the lowest levels of satisfaction, with Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand all falling well below the average.
Some 59 per cent of participants said sex was important to them, but for Thailand just 36 per cent ranked sex as important.
The survey also explored how couples can increase the frequency of sex.
It found that 37 per cent believe less stress and tiredness would improve sexual satisfaction, 35 per cent want more quality time and romance with their partners and 27 per cent want more communication in their relationship.
Dr Sari Locker, a sexuality and relationships educator, said: "We need to invest time out with our partners, de-stressing ourselves and lifestyles and introducing some romance into our relationships."
