Travelling this summer may present a great opportunity to find love, according to a new survey.
An impressive 76 per cent of travellers report that they had some form of romance while travelling, according to research by HostelBookers.com.
Some 13 per cent of travellers confess to finding a 'serious romance' while abroad - considerably higher than the five per cent who expect to find love on their travels.
One night stands are also a common phenomenon for those taking a trip away from home. While one in five respondents expected they might spend the night with someone they met on their travels, this turned out to be the reality for 31 per cent of travellers.
David Smith, general manager of HostelBookers.com, said: "We hear many great stories from around the world about our customers finding love on the road.
"Hostelling in new countries, often for months at a time, allows people to free themselves from the domestic drudge and explore a life they may otherwise never find."
