... Brides compete in cake-eating contest Brides compete in cake-eating contest

14 June 2007

New York City's Times Square was the venue for a wedding cake-eating contest between 15 brides-to-be this week.

The winner was to get $25,000 if she could beat her opponents to eat the most wedding cake in two minutes.

Clad in wedding dresses, the brides all got covered in blue and green icing as they raced against the clock to gorge themselves in the run-up to their big days.

Explaining her tactics, the winner Stephanie Florio, who ate nine mini-cakes during the allotted time, said: "I didn't train, but I didn't eat breakfast. But there was no strategy. I just ate as many as I could.

"I am very satisfied as far as my appetite. I am full, excited. I'm in shock. I don't know what to think."

The winning bride said she will put her winnings towards her big day. Let's hope she still fits in her dress.

The contest will feature in a reality TV show named Bridezillas.ADNFCR-1016-ID-18180596-ADNFCR
